Scholarships
For 2026 there will be two scholarships of $1,500 each awarded to graduating seniors of Bay Port High School, who reside in the Howard-Suamico School District.
Applications are:
- Available from a Bay Port High School counselor.
- Due April 25th and submitted to a Bay Port counselor.
Scholarships are awarded by a committee, considering the following criteria; GPA, class ranking, extracurricular activities, community service, work experience, and leadership abilities.
An awarded scholarship qualifies to be distributed upon completion of the first semester at a university or technical school and with a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.5.

2026 Optimist Essay Scholarship Competition
The Howard-Suamico Optimist Club is encouraging Bay Port High School students to consider: “How My Acts of Service Help Me Understand What My Community Means to Me” The essay contest is sponsored by Optimist International to give young people the opportunity to write about their own opinions regarding the world in which they live. The approach can encompass a young person’s personal experience, the experience of their country, or a more historical perspective. In addition to developing skills for written expression, participants also have the opportunity to win a college scholarship!
The first place winner at the club level earns a $300 scholarship; Top three winners and their families will be recognized and presented with a medal at an Optimist luncheon in spring. The club winner will advance to the district level to compete for a $2500 scholarship.
